DISH Network and DraftKings join forces to provide fantasy sports fans with next-generation interactive viewing experiences. DISH Network is set to directly provide DISH customers nationwide with DraftKings’ sportsbook and daily fantasy experiences. Starting with a groundbreaking DraftKings app integration on the DISH TV Hopper platform, the long-term plan included in the strategic agreement between DISH Network and DraftKings allows users of DISH Network’s SLING TV and Boost Mobile to have access to subsequent DraftKings sportsbook and daily fantasy experiences in the future.

Next-Generation Sports Betting Experience

Viewing betting odds and fantasy contests are made simple and easy to access for DISH TV customers with an internet-connected Hopper family receiver. Initiating bets and contest entries can be directly controlled from their TV, along with setting recording and watching live sports of their favorite fantasy teams. After the bet has been placed, customers will receive a text message on their device, made possible by DraftKings-created technology. This text message can then be used to complete the transaction via the DraftKings app installed on their device. Currently, Hopper users can place bets for NCAA basketball, NBA, and NHL from the app, with additional updates to come.

Users can launch the DraftKings app to watch any live, on-demand, or recorded DISH TV content, anytime and anywhere. The app even comes with the DISH Voice Remote that allows users to open the app by simply saying the command, “Launch DraftKings.”

Top-of-the-Line Synergy

Talking about the other half of this top-of-the-line synergy, DISH Network Corporation is a US satellite pay-TV service provider based in Englewood, Colorado. It is known as one of the drivers of innovation, providing quality services to its customers since 1980. The company is also known for the award-winning technology and television entertainment it provides to its millions of customers via the satellite DISH TV and streaming SLING TV services. Through the acquisition of Boost Mobile in 2020, the company became a nationwide US wireless carrier.

The company’s recent innovation in wireless technology is the building of an OpenRAN-based 5G broadband network, the nation’s first cloud-native. DISH TV Hopper Platform, part of DISH Network involved in DraftKings app integration, is a leading and award-winning technology in the industry when it comes to DVR features and functionality. Hopper (second and third generation) also provides on-the-go access to recorded content and various channels as it allows DISH customers to access popular live and on-demand content via DISH’s streaming app, DISH Anywhere.

The other half, DraftKings Inc., is a US daily fantasy sports contest and online sports betting operator based in Boston. Since its launch in 2012, it has not failed to fulfill its objectives of fueling the competitive spirit of sports fans with products related to daily fantasy, gaming, and digital media. Currently, the company is powering sports and gaming entertainment for more than 50 operators in over 17 countries while its daily fantasy sports product is available in 8 countries with 15 distinct sports categories.

The unexpected synergy between DISH Network and DraftKings Inc. is equally esteemed by both parties. In an interview with Brian Neylon, Group President of DISH TV, he described their company’s integration with DraftKings as “an exciting enhancement” for their customers and “a great addition” to the growing number of users of DISH TV Hopper platform.

Paul Liberman, president of product and technology and co-founder at DraftKings, also expresses his excitement as he mentioned that their partnership with DISH Network is a unique opportunity for fans to watch games and engage with the real-money products that their company offers, not to mention the innovations in technology that lies ahead.
