Full form of Google is Global Organization of Oriented Group Language of Earth, but there is always a doubt as to whether Google has a full form or is simply a word established by the company’s founder. Officially, Google does not have a complete form. It is derived from the term “googol,” which means “infinite.”

The term “Google” is derived from “Googol,” which means “ten to the hundredth power” in English (which is 1 followed by 100 zeros).

History

  • In 1996, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, both PhD students at Stanford University, began Google as a research project. To identify the relevance of a webpage, they invented a new technology called PageRank.
  • The domain google.com was registered on September 14, 1997, and Google Corporation was founded the following September.
  • In the year 2000, Google began selling adverts, and Google Adwords/Adsense was born.
  • The pay-per-click approach was used to create these adverts, which means you only get paid if someone clicks on your ad link.
  • In September 2001, the term PageRank was patented. In the same year, Larry Page stepped down as Google’s CEO, and Eric Schmidt was named the new CEO.
  • Gmail, Google’s free web-based email service, debuted in 2004.
  • It launched Google Earth and Google Maps in 2005.
  • Google introduced Google Video, a new search option, in 2006. It enabled people to look for videos on the internet.
  • Google launched Android, an open platform for mobile devices, in 2007.
